Exhibition Rural Lives new collection 21st -29th May Pwerdy Powerhouse, Llandysul
I've always been passionate about agricultural heritage, social history and exploring themes of rural isolation. This exhibition also documents the transition from living in the Yorkshire Dales to West Wales- no drystone walls and no Cow 'Uses here!
What I do want to get from the exhibition are some 'farming through the generations' stories to help shape and inform my next paintings- I am really hopeful that even in some small way, by highlighting these wonderful rural traditions in paint, people will stop and think about supporting small scale farming. I do not want to see huge superfarms and methods taking over our beautiful landscape and changing it for the worse.
Be great to meet the farming community here, especially in an unusual setting for some -an art exhibition, but from the farmers I have met so far I have had nothing but support and help. Do come along if you can armed with stories of family history, beasts and buildings - a warm welcome awaits.
